Larry,
Logan had 3 wives. Logan died Jan 1906 in Purcell, Jasper County, Missouri. Susan died 13 jul 1901 in Missouri. That's why you can't find them in the 1910 census. They were married Oct 3, 1890 in Missouri. I have a copy of their marriage license, and a photo of Logan. I do not find a death record from the Missouri death records archive. If you have a subscription to Ancestry.com you can find more info. I am sending the marriage license copy and the photo to you via email. If you need more info, let me know.

Hi Rhonda,

It is good to hear from you. I also corresponded via mail, emai,l and phone with Arvilla -- but in the early 90s. I purchased the Drinkard book and still have it. I have not as yet entered all the information from the book into my family tree program. I've only entered information on my individual descendant line from William. I also have a copy of the document that shows William as a Doorkeeper of the House of Burgesses, as well as William Rollerson Drinkard's document about him operating a tavern in Williamsburg. He was the son of William Drinkard. I have been to Colonial Williamsburg and have found additional documents regarding William Drinkard. I have plans to scan those in and put them on my website. At one time a Colonial Williamsburg Actor/Interpreter played the role of William. I believe it was John Drinkard that was in the Rev. War and he was Arvilla's ancestor. He is not my ancestor. I also personally do not have a Drinkard Civil War ancestor and cannot recall which Drinkard was in the Civil War, without looking at the book. It will be a while before I can get the Drinkard documents scanned in and the webpage updated, as I'm currently working on my Bridger family documents. Arvilla sent me a lot of copies and most of it does not pertain to my particular line of Drinkards. Eventually I will be happy to make copies for you and can send copies to you. Please email me directly at Elaine64@aol.com and send me your mailing address and I will send those copies to you.

Regards,
Elaine

Eddie,

Sorry I have not replied earlier, but I can't seem to find an earlier inquiry from you. The comment section on my Word Press website is quite confusing. Are you referring to Thomas Powell of 17th centure Isle of Wight, Virginia? I do not yet have any information on that Thomas Powell. I only know what I've reported on the website. I did copy hundreds of pages from a book on the Powell family, but I have not as yet had a chance to read or interpret those pages. I need to trace our known Benjamin Bridges Powell backwards and try to connect with Thomas Powell. That is a period of over 100 years, so it will be difficult. I will post all my research on this website as I gather information. If you have another question, you may email me direct at Elaine64@aol.com

Thanks, Elaine Powell

James A. Powell was the son of Benjamin and Miss Lancaster. You find them in Missouri for a while and then back in Illinois by 1863, and running back and forth from Missouri to Illinois for the next 10 years. Many of his younger children end up in Oklahoma. After James' wife Mary dies about 1876, I suppose James is forced to get help from his daughter Martha to raise his younger children and she seems to continue this after his death after 1880. 1880 Illinois census shows several siblings living with Martha and Frank Dugan.

Hi Jean,

I'm glad to provide this forum for information on the Bridger Family Reunion in May. Can't wait for the reunion! I have received some inquiries from my Bridger website regarding the Association and I've given them your email address. I will eventually post copies of original Bridger documents (wills, deeds, etc.) so that might help people connect their line. I would love to gather other Bridger lineages to connect to mine so that we might have a master list of Bridger descendants.

See you soon.

Hi Michael,
Yes, I recall our emails. I spoke to cousin Glen Warren and unfortunately his memory is fading and he could not recall our earlier conversation when he told me that he mistakenly had listed Richard Jr. (wife Lydia Akerly) as a son of Richard Sr. (wife Elizabeth Ivatt). I personally doubt Glen's deduction because that means that Elizabeth would have been 58 years old when she had her son John, and that is just not possible. I don't know what originally made Glen think that there was no Richard Jr. I could find nothing to indicate his theory was correct.

Yes, I believe that the recent and continuing NBC series will spark a new interest in genealogy.

I've not yet gotten up to Long Island to do searching there for early Waring info. That was the one location that Glen and his wife never personally visited to do research. Don't know that I'd really find anything from the 1670-80 time period, but you never know. I've been busy working on my Bridger and Hatfield lines.

If you find info that you'd like me to add to my database, I'd love to have it. That's great that you found your Irish grandparents! Did you know I found one of Richard's descendants who has the surname spelling of Wearen? That surprised me!

I wish that we could get some of Richard's descendants to get a DNA test. My dad got his tested and that broke down my brick wall on my Hatfield line. And my husband had his tested and we found he descends from the Colonial Thomas Powell family from Isle of Wight County, Virginia. I previously had a brick wall and could not get back further than Benjamin Powell in 1801 in Tennessee. Perhaps in the future...

If you'd like to send me some info without posting to this log, you may email me direct at Elaine64@aol.com.

Regards,
Elaine

I spoke to cousin Glen Warren and unfortunately his memory is fading and he could not recall our earlier conversation when he told me that he mistakenly had listed Richard Jr. (wife Lydia Akerly) as a son of Richard Sr. (wife Elizabeth Ivatt). I personally doubt Glen’s deduction because that means that Elizabeth would have been 58 years old when she had her son John, and that is just not possible. I don’t know what originally made Glen think that there was no Richard Jr. I could find nothing to indicate his theory was correct.

Yes, I believe that the recent and continuing NBC series will spark a new interest in genealogy.

I’ve not yet gotten up to Long Island to do searching there for early Waring info. That was the one location that Glen and his wife never personally visited to do research. Don’t know that I’d really find anything from the 1670-80 time period, but you never know. I’ve been busy working on my Bridger and Hatfield lines.

If you find info that you’d like me to add to my database, I’d love to have it. That’s great that you found your Irish grandparents! Did you know I found one of Richard’s descendants who has the surname spelling of Wearen? That surprised me!

I wish that we could get some of Richard’s descendants to get a DNA test. Perhaps in the future…

If you’d like to send me some info without posting to this log, you may email me direct at Elaine64@aol.com.

Regards,
Elaine

Dear Elaine,
Thank you so very much for the great work you are doing for the Bridger family.
The May 13 - 16, 2010 gathering in Smithfield, VA is all planned and can barely wait to see all the cousins again. Especially you and your "better half".
We are going to have a Membership Campaign shortly and hope that even if folks don't have the documentation to join as a Lifetime member they will join as an Associate Member. If anyone needs help, we'll try to help them put their documentation together.
See you soon and lots of love,
Jean (President, Bridger Family Association)

Elaine, We communicated back in 2006, and perhaps I am the Waring you refer to in your comment on the Warren family history page? It was fun to find my grandfather in the list. I was interested to find out if you ever resolved the question of whether there was a Richard Jr, or if the same Richard was married twice? From the history page it seems they are in fact father and son, did something you found confirm that or is it still in doubt? I have only recently gotten back into exploring the information on the web, bolstered by genealogy's recent prominence on tv, and finding my other set of grandparents on the Irish census of 1910 that was recently published online... I just wanted to reconnect and if you find any earlier Waring information I'd love to hear about it!
