Mildred “Millie” Juliet Hatfield, 92, of Billings, passed away
Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Billings ClinicHospital. She had made her
home at the Vista at Mission Ridge for the past eight years.
The daughter of George and Marie Waller, Millie was born in Sheridan
County on Jan. 6, 1918. She was
the sixth of eight children born to the couple. In 1937, Millie
graduated from Medicine Lake High School,
where she was active in 4-H and Homemaker’s Club. After graduation she
attended cosmetology school
with her sister Bernice.
She lived in Livingston and Sidney before moving to Billings, where she married Harold Hatfield, Nov. 6, 1946. She and Harold raised their family in Billings, where they were members of American Lutheran Church. Millie was involved in Circle at the church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed attending Shrine functions and formals with her husband and was always involved with a Bridge Club. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Deaconess Hospital for many years. Millie had a large extended family and enjoyed hosting birthdays and holidays. She also enjoyed boating with her family, flower gardening, cooking and baking. Survivors include three sons, Gary Hatfield (Margie) and Ken Hatfield (Terri) of Billings, and Pat Hatfield (Nancy) of Bozeman; six grandchildren, Ryan, Darren, Maren, Mallory, Jillian and Sam; and two greatgrandchildren, Hunter and Hayley; her sister, Ruth Midby of Bozeman; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Waller and Karen Waller of Plentywood; and numerous nieces and nephews. Millie was preceded in death by her husband Harold on Oct. 1, 1997; her parents; brothers, Bill Waller, Cliff Waller and Howard Waller; and sisters, Esther Brekke, Gladys Boe and Bernice Schleper. | ||
