Stephen Hatfield ... I have been
searching for information on the above...born in 1759 in New Jersey and
died May 19, 1824 in Waynesburg, Greene Co. PA. He married a Elizabeth
Freeborn [have no information]... he fought in the Rev. War and was in
the Commander in Chief's Guard. He apparently was given a sword by
George Washington which now is in the Smithsonian. I have been
unsuccesfull in finding anything on him or his parents etc. or on
Elizabeth. They had 10 children. He is the only Rev. soldier to be
buried in the Green Mount Cemetery in Waynesburg, Pa. I have also sent
inquiries to two people in your index who have listed a Stephen, but
thought I would check with you also....any assistance would be
appreciated .....Mike Crawford Montana - 6-30-1997
