Friday March 29, 2013 Beckley Register-Herald:   Lively, Robert February 14, 1930 - March 27, 2013 On Wednesday, March 27th, 2013, our most cherished, Robert Lively of the Woodcrest Addition died in the Veterans Area Medical Center following a short illness. He was in his 83rd year. Known affectionately as "Bob and Bobby," all his life, Robert Lee Lively was born on Valentine's Day in 1930, in Beckley. The youngest of two sons, his parents were the late William Oather Lively and Mary Alice Hatfield Lively Halstead. His brother, William has preceded him in death. Robert's maternal great grandparents were William Anderson "Devil Anse" and Levisa Chafin Hatfield. Robert spent his childhood and young adult life at Whitby and Clearco, graduating from Richwood High School. He attended Concord College , served in the US Army was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Robert retired from the Department of Interior as mining specialist. Previously, he worked for Pittson Coal Company. Robert was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church, Robert has been married to the former Diane Compton of Virginia for the past 32 years. They have made their home in the Woodcrest Addition since 1981. In addition to Diane, Robert leaves to cherish his memory his children, Mark Robert Lively of Beckley, Marilyn Yvonne Lively Boyce and her husband, Bruce of Richwood. He is the dear grandfather of Emily Boyce Bailes, Julie Boyce Moore, Victoria Lively Tussy and Sarah Lively; the proud great grandfather of Bryce Alton Bailes, Thomas Braxton Tussey, Kenzie Lee Bailes and Laken Marie Tussey. On Saturday, March 30th at 11:00 am we will remember the life of Robert Lee Lively with a "Service of Remembrance" at the Melton Mortuary Chapel, Pastor Sam Peterson will be officiating. Robert will be laid to rest in the Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Full military honors will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Council. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 to7:00 pm and one hour prior to the services on Saturday. The honor of carrying Robert has been given to Joe and Mike Hatfield, Allen Hughes, Marc Miller, Bruce Boyce and Ben Tussey.   http://www.meltonmortuary.com/obituaries_689_Robert-Lively ------------------------------------------------
